Treaty Creek Exploration
Drilling Program
2020 – Bell 2, BC
Project Scope
Tangiers was contracted to access the area, establish safety measures and then to build the helipads and drill pads. This hazardous slope was well known and has numerous documented events – avalanches, rockfall and landslides. A solution to these hazards was a must for worker safety.
Methods and Solution
Tangiers was contracted to access the area and establish safety measures then build the helipads and drill pads. Rockfall was a continuous threat. An innovative solution was developed involving installing temporary rockfall nets as well as an alerting system for rockfall events. The drill pads were built and engineered rockfall nets installed above to protect the drilling crews.
Results
One night there was a catastrophic rockfall event. The rockfall nets caught the massive rocks, saved four lives as well as prevented hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment damage and loss. The drilling was able to continue and the company’s stock price rose to 1125% that year due to the discoveries made possible by the Tangiers Team.
