The Canadian Coast Guard required a suitable building site for a radar tower and associated infrastructure on a mountain south of Telegraph Cove, B.C.
Methods and Solution
Tangiers was selected to create this site by blasting and leveling the top of a mountain. The team mobilized, by helicopter, the expedition system which included all the necessary construction equipment. This included three specially modified excavators as well as our standard pneumatic mountain drilling equipment.
Through a series of soil removal activities, drilling and blasting the final result was a perfectly level area that a tower can be built on as well as accommodate a building, solar array and helipad. Completed on budget and on time.
